Mudflats and mangroves at Tibsoc

After all these years of meaning to visit this important wader site I am hoping to get there tomorrow morning. I was out yesterday on a family thing and we noticed some signage on the main north-south highway pointing to a birding site. So we ‘drove’ in, got out and had a walk around until we reached a concrete walkway leading into a mangrove. I knew exactly where we were. Unfortunately the tide had gone right out so not much to look at other than perfect habitat. I have to confess I am completely out of touch with waders and pelagics as well as being unfamiliar with the lie of the land so tomorrow will be familiarisation and orientation. It’s really amazing to think I plan to access this site by public transport, walk in and then walk around. It is a big area so might be challenging especially as I have to carry a tripod. However I got my telescope out and checked out the digiscoping rig … just in case! Mind you my current Olympus Zeiss 4/3 lens with a teleconverter gives me a huge amount of poke so shall be interesting. So here is hoping that getting there is smooth and that the waders and other birds perform. Watch this space!
